These times I've seen I've little time to keep up to different blogs, that's the reason I decided to limit to one single Alle's Lures blog, easier to keep in order and up to date.

MEGAMOUTH RINGPOP PROTOTYPE

In prevision of some demanding fishing trip and upon request of some friends I worked a little on the ringpop shape and size to obtain those two big poppers that you can see around a classic ringpop130.

Right one is 165 mm, not including lead ball, and weights 180 grams, while the little kid on the left is 190 mm and 210 grams, both with a mouth 57 mm wide... big toys...
Out of center line tie should help working them in the water.
As always through steel wire of 2 mm diameter and ventral swivel rated to 700 pounds.
Testing time coming soon.

HABANO, THE LONG WALK

After long time of development, and with some friends helping me in experimenting it, tha Habano is finally born; the name come from the most classic of Cuban cigars, to which resembles for it shape.

It's a singolar lure; I developed the first specimen several years ago, but it has always been in the shadow of other models whose sperimentation I thought more interesting. Its shape is very classic, a common one, a thing that I don't like a lot for my lures. For this reason it has touched the water only in special and difficult conditions when other lures failed; but this way it has permitted many catches to salvage bad days in many parts of the world...

..... from the difficult GTs of the Red Sea...

... to some good jack crevalle in cuban waters....

... but I've to thank Mr Caranx for stimulating me to perfect further the lure....

Finally a very versatile lure has seen the light; shape is classic but his heart is not; it can be dogged in the traditional WTD style, but is balanced to obtain different movements, from subsurface jerking, to fast immersions and jumps out of the water with sharp twitches of the rod.
Three were the original sizes:
Habano 200, 20 cm and 105 grams,
Habano 160, 16 cm and 70 grams,
Habano 130, 13 cm and 45 grams,
everyone with oversized closed through wire and swivels of extra heavy pound test; in reality I developed a small 110 size ( 11 cm, 30 grams ) dedicated to seabass but strong enough to tangle with strong tropical critters too .... smaller 90 and maybe 70 sizes are now under testing and will be ready for the autumn.

ALLE'S LURES IN SPAIN

I'm especially pleased to announce that Alle's Lures are now available to buy on the Spanish market.
I've been happy to give them to my friend Nicola Zingarelli for his shop on line on caranx.net ;
this web has long been a reference point for saltwater lure fishermen worldwide, first in that country to treat tropical popping among the others.
Up to now it's only a limited selection of models and colors, but we'll be working together to develop the array of lures in near future.

MY TIME TO MALDIVAS

A week to join my friends in Gaafu atoll, one of the southernmost land in Maldivas.
Fishing was not easy due to slack current and big waves. The fishes definitely preferred small poppers over big bloopers, stickbaits and other lures.
Pato "half" of 75 grams made a good show, catching some nice GTs, snappers an coral trouts.
It worked so well that I created a "GT special" version with oversized wire of 2mm, to resist the demand of hard fishing that wasn't in the original project of such a small lure.

BICHO IN MALDIVAS

Memories of a week cruising the southern atolls for my friend Salvatore.

"Bicho" 135 was the best lure of the week, the ones that caught the biggest fishes of the trip; GTs didn't want noisy poppers, but preferred a good sized pencil worked fast... sometimes those kind of lures make all the difference.

Not always big ones indeed....

BLUEFIN TUNA IN ADRIATIC SEA

I'm happy to show you what is probably the first bluefin tuna of legal size ( 122 cm and 32 kgs ) caught on a popper in the Adriatic sea an possibly all Italian waters.

The achievement is due to the friend Giuseppe Bandiga Magnani, who caught the fish on my SW 125 model in a sardine pattern, with Gt popping tackle.

CUBAN ROAD TRIP

A brief photostory of a little trip to Cuba, in my mind destined to field testing of topwater lures; the very hot waters of September caused a lack of interesting fishes in shallow waters and a very slow fishing .
Wonderful places and a good company assured a pleasant vacation; the only good fishes on a popper came on a slim version of SW-pop 45.

PATO "HALF"

"Half" because it is about half the size of the original, it weights 75 grams but mantain all the bad noisy popping attitude of its big brother.
Perfect for medium tropical fishing for tarpon, snappers, jacks, or when big predators react lazily to bigger invading lures.
It's on its own also in the mediterranean fishing for leerfishes, bluefishes and even middle size AJs.

SPECIAL LEERFISH

Popper SW in 60 grams size; it pops on the top and swims with a wide wobbling movement just under the surface. Here in a new heavy glittered coloration to blend and camouflage in the foam and bubble trail for educated fishes.

Bicho Grande, 20 cm in a color serie developed on my experience in my home waters of the North Adriatic Sea; the pic miss the black/goldish imitation of the backcountry mullet, but I'll post it very soon.

Of course these are lures for the hunt of large specimen and not intended to pursue the small schoolies that should be left free to grow.

They have shown their value also for big bluefishes, AJs and medium tropical critters such as roosters, snappers, tarpons and jacks just to mention a few.

NEMOMANIA

The unforgettable clownfish. Special striped coloration help to break the visual shape of the lure to the educated fishes, not only a simple painting exercise.

Popper Patico, 23 grams 8 cm in "turquish nemo", Bichito 28 grams e Bicho Med 42 grams in classic "nemo".

Small sizes studied for european seabass, leerfish and bluefish, but strong enough to be cast to barracuda, jacks, cobias and tarpons in Caribbean or Guinean waters.

BICHO, THE PENCIL EVOLUTION

Bicho means "little critter" in Spanish, not a better name to me to describe a frantic escaping creature on the top of the water.
Like all pencil lures can be retrieved fast on the wave with little jerks of the rod to animate it, or can be retrieved WTD style; but its special carachteristic is in the popping mouth.
When a big fish follows the lure on a regular retrieve but doesn't want to connect with it, we can give the rod a downward jerk to make Bicho pop with a lot of noise an bubble, and this action results often in a vicious strike.

LIGHT TACKLE IN GUINEA BISSAU

A perfect destination to relax with a lot of nice fishes on light rods, Ile Kerè is a special place in that corner of Africa

Among mangroves and sandy beaches you can fish from shore or from the boat, with so many catches of jacks an snappers that a poor popper cannot relax a moment.

Small swimming poppers like SWpop60 or small pencil like the Bichito are perfect for these waters.

E.D.POP

Born from the need to present in long distance a popping lure not too destructive on the user's back.
"E" means easy and "D" distance, because it's easy to cast and to produce a lot of noise for its size with a little work of the rod; just point it to the lure, sweep on the side and you see EDPop catch water at first and then emerge with a big bloop. Perfect for the beginner, anglers not so strong or not so big or simply for relaxing fishing on somewhat lighter tackle.
It weights 95 grams and measures 16.5 centimeters.
I use it perfectly with a Daiko Hemingway HBGC-77BD or with a Shimano Caranx Kaibutsu Light Pleasure CKLPS7604, both tools with a casting weight of 100 grammi but enough backbone to handle big fishes.

MALDIVAS, LATE NOVEMBER 2008

This is the photo report of our trip to the famous islands in the Indian Ocean.
We touched North Male, Laavianhi and Noonu atholls in the north and found a mix of sun and bad weather, that was largely predicted before leaving from home.
Not a problem for the fishes, not a problem for us.
Under dark skies big black poppers like RingPop 100 made the difference, leaving lighter colors for bright conditions.

Big bloopers like the Pato 130 made often the difference over pencils and cruisers

Smaller lures like the EDpop we was testing resulted in mixed coral trouts an average GTs

PATO, THE BIG BLOOPER

This is the big noise maker of my collection, designed to move a lot of water in short popping; but even with these carachteristics it's not too tiring to be worked and can be used with tackle not too extreme.

It weights 130 grams without the hooks and splitrings.

Tha name means "duck" in Spanish, because it vaguely resembles the little birds in the aspect.

As all my bigfish production it has first quality hardware with 2mm AISI 316 through wire and 550 lbs SPRO inox swivel.

Some big horse eye jacks right from the rocks; they like big swimming poppers like the SWpop 125 that can be seen in the foam of the breakers.

Not a lucky trip, very few activity and even fewer bites, too early in the season an too much fishing with explosives by the natives.... but we managed a couple good fishes.

THE KALAMAR STICKBAIT

It's an hybrid stickbait-jerkbait never seen on GT grounds, available in different sizes and floating or sinking models.

Many times it has resolved difficult situations especially with educated or non agressive fishes, being them trevallyes, kingfishes, snappers or bluefishes.

CUBA FROM THE PAST

Cuba, one of my preferred escapes, far from the world and among the mangroves and the silence of the jaded creeks fill my mind; these pics are from a little trip back in 1997, an adventure shared with a good friend.
After many extreme adventures, with GTs and billfishes on the menù, I always feel the call of that precise and silent fishing under the tree branches.
Cannot wait to come back.

THE ORIGIN

Since a child I've been interested in lure fishing in all its aspects, from rivers to lakes, from sea to tropical oceans. In my experience I've tryed an infinity of commercial lures, some pretty good, some specials, some not always up to their task; but I often felt the need for something slightly different or specially tuned for my style of fishing or water conditions, custom building them was the obvious consequence.
After doing that for more than a decade I decided to start a very small business, hoping to share my creatures all over the world with demanding fishermen.
This place is devoted to share the evolutions of this path and the fishing experience related to it.
